A single workshop for parent/carers of children and young people who present with the Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) profile of autism, whether they have received a diagnosis or not.
Although PDA cannot yet be formally diagnosed in its own right, there is growing awareness and recognition of the PDA profile as a distinct Autism Spectrum Condition that is best managed with specific strategies that can differ from those used for other types of Autism.
Topics covered include:
- What is PDA?
- Similarities and differences to other Autism Spectrum Conditions and to ODD (Oppositional Defiance Disorder)
- Strategies to support a child/young person with PDA
- Supporting PDA children at school
- Signposting to support for parents and carers
Those completely new to PDA may wish to visit the PDA Society Website to read more about the condition before deciding if this workshop is right for you.
