Sleep Course for Parents/Carers of Looked After and Adopted Children (LAAC) and Young People

A two week course for adoptive parents, foster carers and other guardians of children and young people who have experienced development trauma and have special needs and/or disabilities.

Topics covered include:

  • Children’s sleep cycles and sleep needs
  • The reasons behind problems of night settling and night waking in children with development trauma
  • Strategies for settling your child/young person to sleep and staying asleep

This course is funded by the BIG Lottery.

  • DURATION 4 hour course, split over 2 sessions
  • DELIVERED BY A trained Sleep Practitioner, who is also a parent of children with specific learning needs
  • FREQUENCY This course is typically delivered once a term, in each Local Authority area
