This workshop has been designed specifically to teach children with special or additional needs about sleep and has been taught successfully with children in special needs schools and schools with SEN Units. The workshop is suitable for children with learning difficulties and includes activities that help strengthen what is learnt.
The workshop will be run by specialist Sleep Practitioners who have all been trained by the Southampton NHS Sleep Service and have professional backgrounds in learning disability nursing, social work and teaching. Most importantly, they are also parent/carers of children and teenagers with additional needs.
We will teach:
- Why do we need sleep?
- What happens when we don’t get enough sleep?
- Good and bad foods
- Activities to help sleep and those that don’t help!
- How to set up your bedroom for sleep
We are very grateful to Global’s Make Some Noise campaign for providing funding to allow us to run this workshop at minimal cost to Berkshire families.
