Attachment-focused Parenting/Caregiving Course: Adopters and Foster Carers – Zoom
Event Navigation
This 7 week course is aimed at Berkshire adoptive parents and foster carers of children affected by trauma through adverse childhood experiences. It has attachment theory underpinning all topics. We have a limited number of tickets available for non-Berkshire families.
This course would usually cost £250 per person. We are very grateful to The National Lottery Community Fund for providing funding to allow us to offer places at the massively reduced cost of £50 per person.
The course runs on Friday mornings between 10am and 12pm on the following dates: 21 and 28 May, break for half term, 11, 18 and 25 June, 2 and 9 July.
Topics covered include:
- Impact of trauma on brain and body
- Symptom overlap with ASD/ADHD
- Attachment theory
- Avoiding and managing stress
- Understanding & managing behaviour
- Life story work and answering difficult questions
- Working effectively with schools
- Secondary trauma to carers
The course will be facilitated by PSC specialist parenting practitioners Lynne Blencowe and Nuala Hemphill.
