Attachment-focussed Time Out for Special Needs – Slough
Thursday 10th October 2019 – 28th November 2019 (no session 31st October – half term).
This 7 week course is an adapted version of our ‘Time Out for Special Needs’ course and has attachment theory underpinning all modules. It is aimed at parents and carers of children affected by trauma through adverse childhood experiences like domestic violence, family break-up, bereavement, parental mental health issues and/or substance misuse.
This course is open to birth parents, adopters, foster carers, special guardians and kinship carers of children and young people who live within the local authority of Slough.
This course would usually cost £250 per person. We are very grateful to Berkshire Community Foundation for providing funding to allow us to offer places at the massively reduced cost of £35 per person.
Other areas of PSC work receive no funding at all, for example our Helpline, so we are always grateful for any donations however large or small.
This course runs on Thursday mornings between 10.30am and 12.30pm on the following dates: 10th, 17th and 24th Oct, break for half-term, 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th Nov.
Topics covered include:
– Impact of trauma
– Symptom overlap with ASD/ADHD
– Building blocks of Attachment
– Understanding & managing behaviour
– Life story work
– Secondary trauma to carers
The course will be facilitated by PSC specialist parenting practitioners Zobia Kalim and Lynne Blencowe.
Please note that we cannot accommodate children at this event and require 7 days notice of cancellation to provide a refund.
