Managing Contact with Birth Parents & Siblings Effectively: Foster Carers – Zoom
Managing contact with birth parents, siblings and relatives often comes with challenges for foster carers and children.
This interactive workshop is intended to help carers understand what is going on for themselves as well as the needs and feelings of the child or young person, so that they can manage contact appropriately. This workshop will go through:
- The pros and cons of contact
- Various forms of contact
- Relevant legislation
- The challenges and how to manage them
- Safety planning
- Considerations for different ages
Date: Friday 14th May
Time: 10am – 12pm
Cost: £10/person for Berkshire foster carers. We have a limited number of places available for non-Berkshire foster carers.

The workshop will be led by specialist practitioner Lynne Blencowe.
Lynne has over 10 years experience of delivering training on a variety of topics to foster carers. She has been a foster carer herself for more than 35 years having fostered 93 children during this time. She is currently a long-term foster carer for 3 children, 2 of whom have additional disabilities.
