Understanding and Managing Extreme Reactions to Attachment Problems in Children – Reading

Children who do not receive consistent and reliable parenting/caregiving in the initial weeks and months of their lives, and for whom their basic needs for comfort, affection and nurturing aren’t met, may not be able to form healthy emotional attachments with others. This can have profound implications for their ability to form relationships, behaviour, learning ability and many other aspects of their life.

This workshop will explore the signs and symptoms of diagnosed and undiagnosed Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) and strategies to manage some of the extreme reactions in children.

This workshop will be delivered by Nuala Hemphill. Nuala has over 35 years’ experience as a teacher and manager in education, focusing on additional learning, emotional and behavioural support needs. In addition, she is a psychotherapist and a specialist trainer in trauma defences, reactive attachment, anxiety and ADHD. She is also an adopter and now a kinship grandparent carer.

Wednesday 23rd October 2019: 10am – 12.30pm.

Cost: £10 per parent/carer
