Understanding and Managing Secondary Trauma and Compassion Fatigue – Zoom
Parenting and/or Caring for children who have been through development trauma is different from mainstream parenting and can trigger a parallel process of absorbing their traumatic experiences. Adopters and Kinship Carers are at risk of developing compassion fatigue and secondary trauma, which in turn affects their capacity and ability to care for their children.
This workshop will go through:
- What is compassion fatigue & secondary trauma
- Spotting the signs and symptoms
- Risk factors and Protective factors
Date: Wednesday 26th May
Time: 10am – 12pm
Cost: £10/person for Berkshire adopters, kinship carers and special guardians. We have a limited number of places available for non-Berkshire attendees.
Please note: we require 7 days notice of cancellation to offer a refund.
The workshop will be delivered by Zobia Kalim and Eleanor Greaves, specialist practitioners at Parenting Special Children. In addition to a wealth of professional experience, both are adopters and have personal experiences of caring for traumatised children.
We are very grateful for funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.
