Social Interaction Group for Children and Young People: School Years 4 to 8

The course is for young people in mainstream education (school years 4-8, though year 9 may be considered) who either already have a diagnosis of Autism and/or ADHD or are on the Berkshire CAMHS waiting list for assessment, and are registered with Berkshire West NHS GP surgery.
AIMS:
To develop the confidence and emotional well being of young people through meeting regularly with peers and exploring the social world together. The course will focus on issues including knowing ourselves, friendships, self-esteem, independence and self advocacy.
This programme has been made possible due to funding from the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board (BOB ICB), which serves Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire and is provided as part of the Berkshire West Autism and ADHD Service in partnership with Autism Berkshire.
Therefore, only children who are registered with a GP surgery that is part of the Berkshire West NHS area will be able to access this course.
Dates: Mondays: 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th June, 1st and 8th July
Time: 4.30pm – 6.30pm
Cost: No charge as the course is funded by Berkshire West NHS
Venue: Tilehurst Youth and Community Centre

We recommend that parents/carers have attended or attend an Autism and/or ADHD pre or post assessment workshop or course run by PSC in order for the young person and the family to have the opportunity to learn together.
